Rising Sun Tour - 2006
Start Date: July 18, 2006
End Date:July 23, 2006
Shows: 7
Legs: 1
Countries: Japan
Opening Acts: None
Average Attendance: 10,000
Line Up: Paul Stanley, Tommy Thayer, Gene Simmons, Eric Singer
After a short break in 2005 because of Paul Stanley's hip replacement surgery, the band did a small mini tour across Japan with eight planned dates where eventually two were cancelled as they were booked in America. Before the band went on tour they performed at the VH1 Rock Honors in Las Vegas, on 25th, 2006 where the bands Queen, Judas Priest, Def Leppard and KISS were being honored. KISS performed 'Detroit Rock City', 'Deuce', 'Love Gun' and for an encore they performed 'Makin' Love'. Interesting fact is that Ace Frehley also performed but not with the band but in a supergroup before KISS with Rob Zombie, Slash, Gilby Clarke, Scott Ian, and Tommy Lee and played 'God Of Thunder'.
The tour did well in attendance figures and their shows at the Udo Music Festival had a attendance figure of roughly 40,000. No opening acts were used during this tour and pyro was sparsely used at one show but than again used like they normally would at another show. After the tour concluded Paul would venture into a club solo tour in October/November in support of his solo album "Live To Win". Gene would premiere his reality show "Gene Simmons Family Jewels" in August of 2006.
'Firehouse' had returned on the set list and Gene would breath fire again after the song. The set list is very interesting as well as more obscure songs had returned and resembled more of a set list from KISS in early 1976. Maybe two songs from the 80's were present but the rest were all classic 70's KISS songs. Rarities would be performed as well like 'Kissin' Time' with Eric on vocals, marking the return of the song for the first time since May/June 1974! Also performed were songs like 'Christine Sixteen', 'Watchin' You', 'Got To Choose', and 'Love 'Em And Leave 'Em'.
Rising Sun Tour Stage:
World Domination Tour Stage - For the Rising Sun Tour the band used the World Domination stage again (seeing this is the second time this stage is used in Japan, they might have it in storage in Japan).
Video Screen - No video screen was used during this tour.
KISS Logo - The KISS logo was turned off most of the time during a show.
Show Intro - The intro of the show was interesting as they were introduced and than the band just walked onto the stage and asked if the audience if they are ready to rock.
Pyrotechnics - Even though most shows were limited on their pyrotechnics and fireworks, for the last two shows at the Chumash Casino they went full out again.
Tour Book - What makes this tour stand out beside the small amount of shows, is that there is no tour book, this marks the first time that KISS had no tour book for a Japanese tour.
